BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE LEVEL 1 - Barton
This Level 1 course provides an introduction to BSL and is suitable for all learners.
Qualification aims
Signature British Sign Language Level 1 Award in British Sign Language Qualifications is designed to teach learners to communicate with Deaf people in British Sign Language (BSL) on a range of topics that involve simple, everyday language use. They will gain basic skills and confidence in production and reception of BSL.
Units
The course is divided into three units and candidates are required to pass all units to gain the qualification.
The units include the following topics:
- BSL 101 Introduction to BSL - meeting people, using numbers, weather, transport and directions.
- BSL 102 Conversational BSL - describing people, animals and objects, using numbers, interests and activities, food and drink.
- BSL 103 Communicate in BSL about Everyday Life - getting around, sharing information and weather.
When is next new course?
BSL Level 1 on Tuesday 2nd September 2025 for approx. 33 weeks at 6pm to 8pm
Cost?
The course cost £420 included the three assessments (£50 deposit first then can pay instalments or full amount)
Re-sit cost or assessments only?
If you fail the unit/miss the assessment day - don't worry, you can re-sit at a one off cost per assessment
